I actually find it relaxing and satisfying. It's like the modern journaling. I thought I'd post some of my favorites here because... Well lets face it, because I can!
"If you don't thank God after every smile why do you blame him after every tear?"
I recently saw this quote on a painting I found on Etsy (Which, If you don't know, and you should, is a website sort of like Ebay where people sell their own creations.) I couldn't agree more with this. Humans tend to be very hypocritical people. I know personally I will find myself blaming God for some things, but forget to thank Him for the good. Other people I know don't 'believe' in God ... until something tragic happens, and then He is at fault. This is a reminder to me that he is at fault for the good in life too.
"We are only boys. How can we be enemies?"
This is truly incredible. It came from a story a man had written about his time in the Congo and 5 young boys he had met. Two of the boys were sure that they had been forced to fight each other, as there is an ongoing war there and these boys had become child soldiers. The man asked the boys if that because they fought on different sides, did that make them enemies? The boy kissed the other and said the above quote. It is so powerful. This trip resulted in the creation of an organization called Falling Whistles which you all need to look up now because it is too wonderful to put in my own words.
"Suddenly, all wars stopped. Bullets turned to film, And the people were recorded rather than ruined."
This is another quote off of something i saw on Etsy. I am a film junkie. I love it! Digital things have significantly less resonance and importance to me compared to things captured on film. It's a hard quote to explain I suppose, but to me it means that maybe if we focused a little more on art and love, violence would decrease.
"When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around." - Willie Nelson
"Striving for excellence motivates you; striving for perfection is demoralizing." - Harriet Braiker
There are a few Twitter accounts I follow just because they provide great quotes. These two are from them and what I would say for both of them is :"That is SO true. Sometimes we forget what is important in life."
"The problem with our world is that there are too many nice girls and not enough nice guys for them."
I didn't expect it, but this was actually tweeted by a friend of mine. I don't know if he got it from a different source or cam up with it himself. For a lot of girls I think it can feel like this. I hope it's not true though because I was never too good at musical chairs, if you know what I mean.
"Here's to the kids who are always second choice."
Twitter might not be so bad after all...
